Port-to-Coast 50 Mile Ultramarathon
We are proud to offer the first Ultramarathon race in Haiti!
This 50-mile course begins in Port-au-Prince at the historic Champ de Mars. Runners will wind their way through the hills of Petionville and tackle the steep climbs of Montagne Noir before reaching the peaks of Obleon. From there, it's a challenging series of climbs and descents along Route Kenschoff. It's all downhill once you reach Tet Kayjak. The pine trees within Parc La Visite will cool you off just before a grueling 18-mile descent. The final miles along Haiti's southern coast will make you thankful for pavement and flat ground. Like the Haiti Ultra Run, the Port-to-Coast 50 Mile Race ends with a dip in the Caribbean Sea.
Experience Details & Registration
February 2nd-5th, 2019
Sunday, February 3rd, 2019 (Start Time: 4:00am)
This is a challenging course that features sections of paved road, dirt road and single-track. Many areas of the course can be quite technical. There is a total of 20,000 ft in elevation change, including a climb of 6,300 ft during the first 15 miles of the course. The majority of the course is exposed, meaning that there is very little shade or shelter.

Time Limits & Cutoffs
The overall time limit for the course is 14 hours.
There will be three check-points along the course:
Mile 15 ( time cutoff: 9:30am)
Mile 25 (time cutoff: 12:30pm)
Mile 43 (time cutoff: 4:00pm)
Pacers and Crew
Runners are heavily discouraged from having pacers and support crews along the course. However, runners may choose to have pacers and/or a support crew. Logistics for pacers and support crews must be made by the individual participant. Run Haiti will not make accommodations for pacers or crew. Race fees will not be used to cover the costs of pacers or support crews.
Race Weekend Schedule
Friday and Saturday, Feb 1st-2nd: Runners arrive in Port-au-Prince and settle into hotel accommodations. All participants must stay at La Plaza hotel on Saturday, Feb 2nd. Mandatory pre-race briefing and dinner @ 6:00pm @ La Plaza Hotel on Saturday night.
Sunday, Feb 3rd: Race Day!
Monday and Tuesday, Feb 4th-5th: Rest and recover at Hotel Cyvadier in Cayes-Jacmel. Optional excursions available, including trips to the beach or Basin Bleu (a nearby waterfall).
Tuesday, Feb 5th: Transportation provided to Port-au-Prince for departure travel arrangements.
Individual (Haitian currently living in Haiti) - $750
Individual (Ex-pat currently living in Haiti) - $750
Individual (International traveling for event) - $750 + $500 fundraising commitment
The price of the experience includes lodging & meals from Saturday, Feb 2nd, until Tuesday, Feb 5th. Also included in the cost are runner support items, such as nutrition, water and medical care. Transportation will be provided from Cayes-Jacmel to Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, Feb 5th.
Race Experience: $750
March 15th, 2019: $500 fundraising commitment (international participants only)
Due to logistic limitations, we are only able to support 10 total runners for the 2019 event.
Registration applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those who are no immediately accepted for participation will be placed on a Wait List and will be notified once a spot becomes available.
Participants are required to have completed a qualifying race. There are no specific events listed as qualifying races. In order to meet criteria as a qualifying race, the event must be at least 50km in length.
The name and date of the qualifying race must be submitted at the time of registration
This is a "cupless" race, meaning that runners must bring their own cup, water bottle or hydration vest for the event. Water will be provided at various points along the course but participants should plan to carry most of their water with them during the race. Nutritional items will be provided along the course but, again, participants are encouraged to carry most of their items with them during the race.
This is a "leave no trace" event, meaning that runners should stay on assigned trails and dispose of trash in designated receptacles only. Violation of this rule may lead to disqualification.
The safety of participants in Run Haiti events is our #1 priority.
Participants in the Port-to-Coast 50 Mile Ultramarathon will be required to have international evacuation insurance. In the United States, this insurance is included in most health plans or is available at a low cost. In the event that you do not have international evacuation insurance, Run Haiti can help find potential options.
Medical staff will be provided at the event to help provide care for acute injuries. There will also be physical therapists available along the course.
Although a final decision is pending, participants may be required to have a GPS tracker along the course.
Racing Singlet and Finisher's Award
All participants will be provided with a Run Haiti racing singlet along with a specially-designed Finisher's Award.
